During our time in Washington Dulles, we were able to visit the Lufthansa Senator Lounge. The Lufthansa Senator Lounge is one of only two Lufthansa Lounges in the United States with the other one being in New York (Newark, New Jersey). Our previous plans of flying to South Africa via Sao Paulo Brazil on United Airlines Business First were scuttled thanks to the cancellation of our Chicago – Sao Paulo flight. We were re-booked to travel to Johannesburg on South African Airways via Dakar Senegal. For our journey home, we settled into United Airlines service from Dubai to Washington Dulles. During the Gulf war, United Airlines used to serve the United Arab Emirates on a non stop from Washington Dulles non stop to Dubai, United Arab Emirates with continuing service onwards to Doha, Qatar. This flight benefited from the American civilian contractors working in the gulf Region that had to fly a US flagged carrier by government travel policy.
