There are limited hotel accommodations situated on the lagoon of Bora Bora. With the potential of having views of the extinct volcano Mount Otemanu, views of the surrounding blue lagoon, and a price point that usually reflects limited supply, picking a hotel is ever more important than ever. We ended up at the Le Meridien Tahiti after our research, and experienced a well located full featured resort that was straight forward, if… Read More
For our stay on the beautiful island of Moorea, French Polynesia we opted for the exotic Sofitel Kia Ora Beach Resort in a private villa beach front bungalow. The Sofitel Kia Ora Moorea was a unique beach resort in French Polynesia that surprisingly placed towards the luxury end of the spectrum. We would spend several days exploring the resort and the area, along with some time underwater at the unique house reef… Read More

The “W” Union Square would be our modernized historic hotel for this particular trip to New York City. It’s well situated on the beautiful Union Square Park in the middle of where you want to be in Manhattan. Conveniently accessible to most attractions, we enjoyed a functional stay in a neighbourhood that was pleasant to be in, in a hotel that was a little average in experience. Review: The W New York… Read More
I was excited to experience a resort in communist Cuba. Would the experience meet up to our expectations? Would a stay in a land governed by communism and twenty five years of sanctions from the United States make for an interesting stay? We would end up discovering a different stay experience filled with interesting (and rationed) food, supply issues and some odd touches. It ended up being a unique travel experience unlike… Read More

Our visit to Munich happened to be timed with Oktoberfest; a period when the hotels fill up and room rates can get surprisingly expensive. A sample of room rates around Munich had prices around 400€ during the famous fall beer festival. We ended up getting outsized value by using annual certificates from American Express cards to stay for free during Oktoberfest at the Westin Grand Munich. Review: The Westin Grand Munich, Germany…. The St Regis Mauritius has been our “go to” property while visiting Mauritius. It has a a terrific location with the property set in the shadow of the giant Le Morne mountain in a peaceful corner of the island.
