Review: Le Meridien Piccadilly, Mayfair, London, United Kingdom Getting to the Hotel: We met our Blacklane driver at the Gatwick exit area. We walked out to a clean Mercedes E200 Touring and we were on our way. It was about 90 minutes drive up to the Piccadilly Circus but the door to door service was pretty much worthwhile over steps, stairs and trains on the Gatwick Express & London Underground routes. Arriving… Read More

Review: The Westin Palace, Madrid, Spain We rolled outside the airport with our baggage and hopped a 30€ flat rate taxi to the city center. Madrid has now fixed the rate from the airport to the city as a flat rate. Despite this, there were lots of advertisements for Uber inside the airport. It sounds silly but after watching years of SPG TV and seeing the promotion for the Westin Palace Madrid… Read More

Review: Westin LAX Los Angeles Airport, Los Angeles, USA Booking: I was able to get a bargain basement rate of $100 USD here; which fit the bill for my solo and quick 20 hour transit of Los Angeles. I had last stayed here in September 2015. I had considered trying a different property but didn’t see the need to spend time in transit to and from the airport area. Ultimately deciding on… Read More

Review: Sheraton Hanover Pelikan, Hannover, Germany After getting back from Bremen, we had a short one night stay at the Sheraton Hanover Pelikan; MrsWT73’s usual spot while staying in town when she’s not on a mandated group work event at a designated hotel. The Location: The Pelikan occupies an almost suburban location about 4 stops away from the Hautbahnhof on the U train. It’s suburban enough that the U train is running… Read More

Review: Le Meridien Munich, Germany We stepped off the S8 and arrived the Munich Hautbahnhoff, which was all decorated for Christmas. We walked out the south door. The Le Meriden Munich is right across the street from the Hautbahnoff and next door to the Aloft. The Meridien’s location, although not in the nicest neighbourhood of Munich, is exceptionally convenient to access Munich’s transit systems. It’s also within reasonable walking distance of Marienplatz…. Read More
