The Island country state of Singapore hosts millions of tourists and visitors in a normal year, thanks to a combination of geopolitical positioning, a welcoming stance towards tourism and business and its constantly warm and tropical climate. Singapore has all the main hotel brands, but it hasn’t had a lot of new properties to stay at that have been very attractive. We took in the brand new Westin Singapore on our last… Read More

We opted for a stay at the conveniently located Sheraton Saigon Hotel and Towers for our stay in Ho Chi Minh city. While the Sheraton is an older property brand in Asia, we were really impressed with tis attention to detail and service orientation. We were made to feel like gold while we stayed here. We had a comfortable stay that would easily have us recommend this property for those looking for… Read More

We ended up mis-connecting in Seoul Incheon as a result of mechanical problems from our Air Canada flight. Instead of continuing onwards on a connection, we happened upon the Nest Hotel, a member of Design hotels as our temporary home for the night. Our stay ended up being in a hotel which was a hip urban contemporary property. It was something surprising and a stark contrast from the usual drab cookie cutter… Read More

There are fabulous airport hotels and then there are airport hotels that exist just for functionality. This particular location fit into that the latter category. A convenient airport hotel isn’t always a bad thing, but a stay at a property like this values convenience over a luxurious stay full of amenities. As our flight had us arriving late to the airport, we opted for a convenient overnight here, prior to our onward… Read More

Our trip around the world had us stopping in Poland for three nights in order to check out interesting Warsaw, Poland. We had a few choices of hotels from the Westin Warsaw that appeared to be a dull tower styled property, or the interesting Hotel Bristol which had been around since 1901. I don’t normally enjoy historic properties since they tend to be shabby chic but I am pleased to report that… Read More

For our one night stopover in Dubai, we ended up at The Four Points by Sheraton Sheikh Zayed Road, Dubai. It was centrally located on Sheikh Zayed Road and was convenient to access both the Dubai Mall and the Dubai International Airport. While we don’t get the opportunity to review many inexpensive properties around the world, this one met all our needs for a free reward night stay. Hotel Review: The Four… Read More

For our second visit to Dubai, we decided to return to the Dubai Marina area. It was situated in a nice neighbourhood with access to nearby Jumeriah Beach. It also had reasonable access around Dubai thanks to being close to the Dubai Metro less than 10 minutes walk from the property. Tokyo, Japan has the reputation of being one of the most expensive cities in the world. With space at a premium, its hotel inventory ranges from small capsule hotels to elaborate suites. We went straight down the middle with the Westin Tokyo on our last stay and received a larger than expected hotel room, a convenient location and a great place to locate ourselves on our three day stay. Review: The Westin… Read More

We had a five day stay in Mauritius at the enjoyable St Regis. While there are many choices of resorts to stay at in Mauritius, we were happy to be down in quiet Le Morne under the large views of this scenic part of the island. This post is one chapter on our trip to South Africa, a Safari in the Maasai Mara in Kenya and Mauritius. This trip was redeemed through… Read More
