Our trip around the world had us stopping in Poland for three nights in order to check out interesting Warsaw, Poland. We had a few choices of hotels from the Westin Warsaw that appeared to be a dull tower styled property, or the interesting Hotel Bristol which had been around since 1901. I don’t normally enjoy historic properties since they tend to be shabby chic but I am pleased to report that… Read More
For our one night stopover in Dubai, we ended up at The Four Points by Sheraton Sheikh Zayed Road, Dubai. It was centrally located on Sheikh Zayed Road and was convenient to access both the Dubai Mall and the Dubai International Airport. While we don’t get the opportunity to review many inexpensive properties around the world, this one met all our needs for a free reward night stay. This post is one… Read More
For our second visit to Dubai, we decided to return to the Dubai Marina area. It was situated in a nice neighbourhood with access to nearby Jumeriah Beach. It also had reasonable access around Dubai thanks to being close to the Dubai Metro less than 10 minutes walk from the property. This post is one chapter on our second Round the World trip via Japan, the United Arab Emirates, Oman, and Poland…. Read More
Tokyo, Japan has the reputation of being one of the most expensive cities in the world. With space at a premium, its hotel inventory ranges from small capsule hotels to elaborate suites. We went straight down the middle with the Westin Tokyo on our last stay and received a larger than expected hotel room, a convenient location and a great place to locate ourselves on our three day stay. This post is… Read More
We had a five day stay in Mauritius at the enjoyable St Regis. While there are many choices of resorts to stay at in Mauritius, we were happy to be down in quiet Le Morne under the large views of this scenic part of the island. This post is one chapter on our trip to South Africa, a Safari in the Maasai Mara in Kenya and Mauritius. This trip was redeemed through… Read More
We had a five day stay in Cape Town and centred ourselves in the modern Westin Cape Town hotel. We had a terrific stay at this property, and really enjoyed our suite, the Executive Lounge, along with the central location of the property. This post is one chapter on our trip to South Africa, a Safari in the Maasai Mara in Kenya and Mauritius. This trip was redeemed through Air Canada’s Aeroplan… Read More
We don’t often make a point of staying at Four Points by Sheraton hotels in our personal lives. I get a pretty steady frequency of them on my work travel circuit around various towns throughout Canada. I needed 2 last nights for renewing the next year’s Marriott Bonvoy status. When I looked at the cheapest Marriott Hotel property in the Vancouver area, this property or the Four Points by Sheraton Vancouver Airport… Read More

There is a silver of warmth in British Columbia in the southern center of the province called the Okanagan. The center of this warmth is the city of Kelowna, which sees vacationers inundate the area during the summer months. The winter seasons see cool weather and occasional snows. While there are a variety of family motels and lower end hotels, the Delta Hotels by Marriott is the only major resort franchise in… Read More

With the year in 2020 coming to an anticipated close, as it some times happens, I was short a few night credits for renewing next year’s Marriott Bonvoy status. Even though Marriott was offering roll over elite status for the year 2021, I was only a few nights short of qualifying for Titanium status again. Not knowing how Marriott was going to calculate status for 2022 as a result of the worldwide… Read More

On our way back from the United Arab Emirates and the Maldives, we had a two day stopover in Qatar. You never know when your travels will bring you back so it’s important to take advantage of these opportunities if you can. We ended up at the Marriott Doha Hotel located near the old Doha International Airport for a convenient two day stay. While not the newest property, it make up for… Read More
We set off our arrival in the Maldives by a short stay at the Sheraton Maldives Full Moon Resort and Spa. While this was a convenient resort to the airport, it wasn’t necessarily the experience that you’d expect when travelling all the way to the Maldives. Despite this, it was a great transfer hotel and we’d easily stay here again if the rates were competitive. This post is one chapter in our… Read More
