The Victoria Falls Hotel is one of Africa’s most famous hotels. Originally built to accompany the Cairo to Cape Town Railway, the hotel was initially the home to construction workers of the railway. The property has hosted guests since 1904 and has dazzled guests with its views, and proximity to Victoria Falls, providing a luxury experience to all guests who are fortunate enough to stay. There wasn’t a lot of international brand choice for our one night stay in the capital city Windhoek, Namibia. It was down to a tired looking Protea Hotel by Marriott or this locally glamorous Hilton Windhoek property. Aiming for some comfortable accommodation, we ended up booking with the Hilton and didn’t look back. Review: The Hilton Windhoek, Namibia “The Hilton Windhoek provided a comfortable place to rest up for the night and… Read More

In probably among the most unique hotel stays in the world, The Pelican Point Lighthouse is situated 32 kilometers out on a sand bar from Walvis Bay Namibia. A stay at this property offers a glimpse at Lighthouse Keeper life, in the midst of five star half board luxury, all while surrounded by wildlife and the crashing waves of the Atlantic Ocean. We had a five day stay in Cape Town and centred ourselves in the modern Westin Cape Town hotel. We had a terrific stay at this property, and really enjoyed our suite, the Executive Lounge, along with the central location of the property. Our short stay in Doha had us coming in to check out the brand new Westin Doha Hotel and Spa in Doha, Qatar. As a brand new property, the Westin Doha Hotel offered sleek and contemporary furnishings in a nicely equipped room that was a steal on award points. I’d easily stay here again if I was passing through the city for a short or longer stay. Review: The Westin Doha Hotel… Read More

The Fairmont Hotel Brand doesn’t always get a lot of love from frequent travellers thanks to its less than engaging award program. It used to have a stand alone award program called Fairmont President’s Club, until it was absorbed by Accor which has a stronger European foot print. Despite its stand alone independent nature, we ended up with a three day stay at the Fairmont Kea Lani in beautiful Wailea, Maui in… Read More

The Moana Surfrider by Westin Resort and Spa Waikiki Beach is one of the original classic hotels of Waikiki, Hawaii, United States. Our trip to Bali was aimed to teach my son about a little culture, without giving him ultimate culture shock as an eleven year old. With this in mind, we ended up in comfortable but familiar Nusa Dua resort area of Bali, Indonesia. Our stay at the Westin Resort Nusa Dua Bali was everything we would have expected from a stay at in Nusa Dua; a hotel with comfortable rooms, a safe… Read More

The Fairfield Inn represents one of the more inexpensive brands in the Marriott portfolio of brands. For our overnight stay in New Delhi, we had a very short one day stay prior to our travels home. Instead of going for a higher end property, we ended up at the ITC Maurya for a quick stay in New Delhi. While it was not as exotic as The Leela Palace, it was more than reasonable at a far lower price point. Hotel Review: The ITC Maurya, A Luxury Collection Hotel,… Read More
