Air Canada has launched it’s latest Aeroplan promotion. Air Canada’s Aeroplan is offering additional miles for flights to New Zealand from Canada. Aeroplan is offering an additional ten thousand Aeroplan miles for flights booked in economy class and up to twenty five thousand miles for flights in Business Class. The promotion runs throughout the Southern Hemisphere summer season, although registration and purchase needs to happen by August 29, 2023.

In an exclusive offer, Air Canada Aeroplan is offering up to 25,000 additional Aeroplan miles for flights from Canada to New Zealand.

The Flights:

Air Canada will soon be starting its Boeing 787-9 service from Vancouver, Canada to Auckland New Zealand.

Air Canada offers a terrific international business class service. We last flew their Air Canada Business Class Vancouver – Incheon and enjoyed the flight and the seat.

The flights are scheduled to depart as follows:

• AC 39 Vancouver – Auckland (Sun / Wed / Fri) departing 11:45 PM arriving 10:55 AM + 2 (Flight Time of 14hrs & 10 minutes)
• AC 40 Auckland – Vancouver (Sun / Tues / Fri) departing 2:00 PM arriving 6:10 AM (Flight Time of 13hrs and 10 minutes)

Flights are now available for sale on the Air Canada website and aren’t cheap. The flights generally appear to be going for around $3,100 Canadian Dollars round trip in a flex fare category that earns 100% Aeroplan miles.

The promotional offer was marketed through an Aeroplan Elite Member targeted email, but it appears anyone can sign up for the promotion, assuming they locate the information. and registration from within the airline’s banner web page.

This is an offer that is open to anyone.

Air Canada is offering:

• An additional 25,000 Bonus Aeroplan points when flying a qualifying round trip business class fare
• An additional 10,000 Bonus Aeroplan points when flying a qualifying round trip economy class faire

The Terms and Conditions listed are as follows:

• Valid only on new bookings of Eligible Scheduled Flights* from Canada to Auckland (AKL), New Zealand.
• Offer valid between August 7, 2023, starting at 00:01 Newfoundland Time through to August 29, 2023 inclusively, ending at 23:59 Pacific Time.
• Open only to Aeroplan Members in good standing.
• Business Offer: Earn 25,000 bonus Aeroplan points when flying an eligible round trip (or two eligible one‑way trips) from Canada to Auckland (AKL), New Zealand during the eligible travel period.

Air Canada requires a minimum of one round‑trip flight booking or two one‑way trip flight bookings are required. For clarity, a one‑way trip consists of one origin and one destination (one bound) between an airport in Canada and Auckland (AKL), New Zealand.  

• The departure of the first outbound trip must commence in Canada to be eligible for this Offer. 
• For two one‑way trips to be eligible, at least the first of the bounds must depart from Canada, although both one‑way trips may originate in Canada. For example, the first eligible one‑way trip can be from Vancouver (YVR) to Auckland (AKL), and the second eligible one‑way trip can be from Toronto (YYZ) via Vancouver (YVR) to Auckland (AKL). 
• Travel must take place within the following travel period: October 29, 2023, starting at 00:01 Newfoundland Time through to March 27, 2024 inclusively, ending at 23:59 Pacific Time. 
  

Overall this is a pretty broad time line period to complete flights. Although, the promotion is only open for registration and ticket purchase for the next few days.

Registration is really easy, and is a one click process from the targeted email.

It also appears that you can simply register from the Air Canada home banner webpage; meaning that this may not be completely targeted towards elite members. Under these circumstances, you’ll need to manually enter your aeroplan number.

If you’re successful, you’ll be taken to a screen that indicates that you’ve been successfully registered for the offer.

What I think of this deal:

This offer is well positioned to highlight Air Canada’s new route from Vancouver, Canada to Auckland to New Zealand.

If you are travelling on this route, you may find yourself in Air Canada Business Class seats. Air Canada features Collins Aerospace reverse herringbone seats, which are a pretty comfortable way to travel long haul.

People that are travelling to the South Pacific should definitely register and consider booking within the offer window. However, much like Alaska Airlines, Air Canada typically isn’t the cheapest way to travel. As a result, I wouldn’t expect to find a bargain discount on this particular route.
